On June 18, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mariana Betsa took part online in the international conference “Rethinking Europe: The Danish EU Presidency in Stormy Weather” in Copenhagen, organized by Think Tank Europa on the eve of Denmark’s presidency of the Council of the European Union.
In her speech, Mariana Betsa emphasized the inextricable link between the future of Ukraine and the European Union: “The future of Ukraine and the EU is interconnected and indivisible. Our state is an integral part of the European family. And in the global order, Ukraine stands as a cornerstone of the new security architecture of Europe, which is being formed in the course of the fight against the Russian aggressor”.
The Deputy Minister noted the leadership role of Denmark, which demonstrates an example of support for our state at this critical time. Mariana Betsa emphasized that Ukraine plays a key role in shaping the European response to modern security challenges. The diplomat called on partners to strengthen military, economic and humanitarian support for Ukraine, as well as to demonstrate determination in further steps to force Russia to peace - strengthening sanctions, international isolation and accountability.
The conference was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland Elina Valtonen, as well as experts, analysts and business representatives. The participants emphasized that supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression and promoting Ukraine's European integration are key priorities.
The conference "Rethinking Europe: The Danish EU Presidency in Stormy Weather" is the first within the framework of the Stocktaking EU initiative and was held in partnership with Gorrissen Federspiel as part of the preparation for the Danish presidency of the Council of the EU, focusing on discussing the key challenges facing the European Union in today's geopolitical environment.
