On 20 April 2021, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba held a phone conversation with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See.

Dmytro Kuleba informed his counterpart about the massive escalation of Russian military forces along the Ukrainian border, the aggravation of the security situation on the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the increase of the intensity of Russian disinformation campaign.

Dmytro Kuleba expressed his gratitude for the solidarity of the Holy See and personally of His Holiness Pope Francis with Ukraine and support in the period, when our state is resisting Russia's armed aggression. The Foreign Minister reaffirmed our country's commitment to the political and diplomatic settlement.

The interlocutors paid a special attention to bilateral dialogue and discussed the further development of political dialogue between Ukraine and the Holy See.
