Within the series of international discussions on ways to reform the UN Security Council, on October 19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held a round table in a hybrid format on the topic "Challenges to global international security: time for reform of the United Nations Security Council" with the participation of First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Emine Dzhaparova. The event was moderated by the president of the Munich Security Conference, Christopher F. Van Heusen.

The participants discussed the problem of reforming the UN Security Council. They emphasized that it is extremely important to transform the Security Council into a more representative body of the Organization, as well as increase its balance, efficiency and transparency, especially in the decision-making process.

One of the topics of the panel discussion was Ukraine's vision of the reform of the UN Security Council. Ukraine attaches great importance to the reform of the Security Council in two main directions: preventing the abuse of the right of veto to block the effective steps of the Security Council to maintain international peace and security, and expanding the membership of the Security Council.

Ukraine is actively advocating for finding common approaches and defining tasks in the matter of reforming the UN Security Council in order to build a safer and more just world.

Representatives of scientific and expert circles from countries of the Global South, including Argentina, Chile, Kenya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, the Republic of South Africa, and others, took part in the discussion.
