On July 7, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the civil society organisation "Foundation for Fundamental Research Support" concluded a Memorandum of Understanding.
The document was signed by State Secretary of the MFA of Ukraine Olexandr Karasevych and the Head of the civil society organisation "Foundation for Fundamental Research Support" Tymur Korotkyi.
The Memorandum establishes the basis for developing cooperation across a number of priority areas, including the application of international legal mechanisms and instruments to protect Ukraine's interests and strengthen the international legal response to Russian aggression, as well as facilitating scientific and expert elaboration of issues related to the development of international humanitarian law and international criminal law, and supporting measures aimed at improving their implementation in Ukraine.
A separate area of cooperation between the parties is supporting the activities of the "Platform for the Progressive Development of International Humanitarian Law" initiative, which was launched by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha.
For reference: The Platform for the Progressive Development of International Humanitarian Law is an international expert forum established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on the initiative of Minister Andrii Sybiha. Its mission is to assess the effectiveness of international humanitarian law during the Russian aggression and to develop updated legal norms and instruments based on Ukraine's unique experience, with the aim of improving international humanitarian law in accordance with contemporary realities.
