On June 15, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleksandr Bankov held a meeting with International Special Envoy for the Implementation of EU Sanctions David O'Sullivan as part of his first official visit to Kyiv after his appointment.
The Ukrainian side expressed its gratitude to the EU for consistent sanctions policy against the Russian Federation for its aggression against our state.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian side raised the issues of accelerating the adoption of the Eleventh package of EU sanctions, as well as the application of destructive sanctions against the Russian military-industrial complex in order to prevent the production of missiles and drones used in the war against Ukraine.
The parties also exchanged views on the coordination of further steps aimed at eliminating opportunities to circumvent sanctions in defense, energy, transport, logistics and other areas crucial for the economic and military potential of the Russian Federation.
The issue of introducing the EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Mechanism against persons involved in the commission of genocide and war crimes during the Russian aggression on the territory of Ukraine was discussed separately. The parties expressed readiness to cooperate further in this direction.
