Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko held a meeting with representatives of seven countries - the United States, Sweden, Norway, Poland, the Czech Republic, Portugal and Spain - that support the implementation of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety item of the Peace Formula. In total, 26 countries support the implementation of this item.
Olexandr Mischenko presented Ukraine's position on the return of full sovereign control over Zaporizhzhya NPP to diplomats of seven countries and informed about the destructive intentions of the aggressor state to disrupt the upcoming rotation of IAEA experts at Zaporizhzhya NPP.
"Russia will continue to carry out provocations to force the IAEA and the international community to agree to the rotation of the Agency's experts through the territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by the aggressor. In this way, the aggressor is trying to set a precedent that the international community will be forced to accept as fact, given the growing security risks. The enemy is looking for weaknesses among international partners in order to impose its decision. The only response to such insidious actions can be a consolidated and resolute position of the international community. The rotation of IAEA experts should be carried out exclusively through the territory under the sovereign control of Ukraine - the Ukrainian military is ready to guarantee safe crossing of the contact line," the Ukrainian diplomat stressed.
The parties agreed on the need to strengthen the coordination of international efforts to restore our country's legitimate control over the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and prevent further risks to global nuclear safety caused by its illegal seizure by the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
In addition, the interlocutors discussed ways to achieve a just and sustainable peace through further strengthening of international solidarity of Ukraine's partner states in countering the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
