On November 18-19, 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko paid a working visit to the Republic of Türkiye, where he held bilateral political consultations with Mehmet Kemal Bozay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye. The consultations were held in line with agreements reached at the level of the Foreign Ministers of both countries.
The discussions covered a wide range of issues, including political dialogue, economic cooperation, regional security, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and collaboration in the defense industry. A key topic of discussion was Türkiye’s support for Ukraine’s Peace Formula. Türkiye’s unwavering support for Ukraine was reaffirmed in all possible forms.
During the visit, Olexandr Mischenko also held meetings with Haluk Görgün, Head of the Turkish Presidency of Defense Industry Secretariat, and Şuay Alpay, Deputy Minister of Defense of Türkiye, to explore the development of cooperation in the defense-industrial sector.
Particular attention was given to encouraging Turkish investments in the reconstruction of Ukraine and advancing the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries.
Additionally, Deputy Foreign Minister Mischenko met with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to discuss issues related to interfaith dialogue and support for Ukraine.
A significant element of the visit was the Deputy Foreign Minister’s participation in a commemoration event marking 1,000 days since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The event included the opening of a thematic exhibition and was attended by foreign ambassadors accredited in Ankara, as well as representatives of leading media outlets.
