On September 21, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleksandr Mishchenko held a meeting with Tamaki Yuichiro and Fukasaku Jesus, members of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan representing the opposition Democratic Party for the People.

Oleksandr Mishchenko expressed his gratitude to the Japanese side for its extensive financial, humanitarian, technical, and military assistance. He highlighted the particular importance of the support provided both bilaterally and through international organizations, specifically in the areas of humanitarian demining, energy sector restoration, and the overall reconstruction of Ukraine.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that owing to the courage of Ukrainian defenders and the significant support of international partners, Ukraine is increasingly neutralizing the manpower and military infrastructure of the aggressor state, substantially weakening its military capabilities.

The sides paid special attention to the security challenges currently facing Europe and East Asia. Both parties underscored the vital importance of consolidating global efforts to protect peace, stability, and to maintain a rules-based international order.

For their part, the Japanese parliamentarians assured of their comprehensive, ongoing support for Ukraine in countering Russia's armed aggression and strongly condemned any unilateral attempts to alter the internationally recognized borders of sovereign states.
