On 16 June, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko held a meeting with Ilse Aigner, President of the Landtag of the Federal State of Bavaria of the Federal Republic of Germany, who paid her first visit to Ukraine.
During the meeting, two sides discussed the consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine, potential threats from the aggressor state to Europe, efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in our country, the state and ways to intensify Ukrainian-Bavarian cooperation and the role of interparliamentary cooperation in this process. Particular attention was paid to the negotiation process between Ukraine and the EU and Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
The Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to the German side for the solidarity and European leadership in providing comprehensive assistance to Ukraine, as well as for the shelter and support that Ukrainian citizens receive in Germany, particularly in the federal state of Bavaria. In this context, Olexander Mischenko stressed that Ukraine is interested in a speedy end to the war and the establishment of a just peace in our country, which will be a prerequisite for the return of Ukrainians from abroad.
The President of the Landtag assured of Germany's and Bavaria's unwavering support for Ukraine and noted the courage of Ukrainian soldiers who defend not only their country but also peace in Europe and European values.
The interlocutors also focused on discussing ways to further establish municipal and regional partnerships between Ukraine and Bavaria, expand bilateral sectoral cooperation, particularly in the IT sector, and the participation of Bavarian business in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
