On March 20, 2022, the Russian Federation spread through the UN Security Council slanderous accusations against units of the National Guard of Ukraine in preparing, allegedly, terrorist attacks on foreign diplomatic missions in the city of Lviv, as well as plans to use chemical weapons in the city of Sumy, Sumy Region and the village of Kotlyareve, Mykolayiv Region.

The Russian Federation once again is using the international organizations for spreading absurd accusations of Ukraine including the misinformation on the alleged development of “dirty” bomb or “biological” weapon. 

With gross violations of the laws of war (jus in bello) Russia is circulating the foul narratives as information cover up to commit more crimes on the territory of Ukraine.  

In this connection, MFA of Ukraine strongly condemns the shelling on 21st of March of the territory of JSC “Sumykhimprom” by Russian armed forces.

The Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in a due manner has immediately notified the OPCW Technical Secretariat about the use by the Russian Federation itself of chemical weapons in the locations specified in the Russian document.

Ukraine has always consistently adhered to its commitments under the international WMD non-proliferation instrumentarium and strongly protests against the use of the UN Security Council as a platform for Russian deliberate provocations.

We call upon the world community to be vigilant in order to properly counter the next aggressive plans of the Russian war criminals.
