Today, on June 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held a solemn event on the occasion of the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag in the Ministry's courtyard with the participation of the Ministry's leadership, members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, MPs, military personnel, diplomats and other distinguished guests.

Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Yevhen Perebyinis delivered a speech, emphasizing the important contribution of the Crimean Tatar people as an integral part of the political, cultural and historical community of Ukraine to the development of the state. In his speech, Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized that the diplomatic struggle for the de-occupation of the Crimean peninsula remains one of the key priorities of Ukraine's foreign policy.

The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov and the Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Olga Kuryshko also addressed the participants of the event with welcoming speeches.

Mejlis Chairman Refat Chubarov thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for its active efforts aimed at ensuring that the issue of Crimea’s de-occupation remains a priority on the international agenda, as well as for its work to ensure that the world community recognizes the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944 as an act of genocide.

The annual celebration of the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag on June 26 symbolizes the invincibility of the Crimean Tatar people, their struggle for their rights, dignity and freedom, as well as their resistance to the temporary occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
