On 6 November 2020, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar met with the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine Marek Shafin.
The Deputy Foreign Minister and the Ambassador discussed the situation at checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Slovak border. They thoroughly analyzed the traffic congestion at the international checkpoint "Uzhgorod-Vyshne Nemetske", caused by the freight transport, and offered solutions to the problem.
Vasyl Bodnar noted that it is crucial to create proper conditions for crossing the border, so that freight carriers do not have to wait for hours or even days.
In addition, the Deputy Minister and the Ambassador agreed to intensify their efforts to deepen cooperation between the customs services of the two countries through information exchange.
Vasyl Bodnar and Marek Shafin also discussed the cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia within international organizations.
The Ambassador of the Slovak Republic gave assurances of his country's interest in participating in Ukraine's initiative to establish the Crimean Platform.
