On 16 November 2020, the President of Ukraine initiated an international flashmob of video greetings. The purpose of the event is to draw attention to UNESCO activities and to support the values the organization protects all over the world.
Ukraine invites all UNESCO Member States to support the flashmob and to publish videos on their official channels and social networks about the importance of UNESCO for each country. Due to coronavirus pandemic that makes mass celebrations impossible, a digital content flashmob is an universal way to engage the international community in celebrating the 75th anniversary of the international organization.
The Ukrainian video greeting shows tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine from the UNESCO World Heritage List. The list of Ukrainian material heritage includes St. Sophia Cathedral, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Residence of Bukovinian and Dalmatian Metropolitans in Chernivtsi, the Ensemble of the historic center of Lviv and the Ensemble of St. George's Cathedral, the Struve Geodetic Arc, the Wooden tserkvas of the Carpathian region in Ukraine and Poland, the Ancient city of Chersonese and its chora, Ancient and Primewal Beech Forests of the Carpathians. The intangible heritage includes the Tradition of Kosiv painted ceramics, Cossack’s songs of Dnipropetrovsk Region, Petrykivka decorative painting as a phenomenon of the Ukrainian ornamental folk art.
