On August 5, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Republic of Panama in the format of video conference were held by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Yevheniy Yenin, and Deputy Foreign Minister of Panama, Federico Alfaro Boyd.
The counterparts exchanged views on economic potential of their countries and expressed readiness to develop a full-scale cooperation. «Ukraine is eager to supply equipment for the construction of hydroelectric power plants in Panama», said Yevheniy Yenin when discussing economic cooperation of bilateral relations with his Panamanian colleague.
Specific steps were outlined to expand bilateral cooperation, including the ways to develop the legal framework of relations.
Yevheniy Yenin thanked Federico Alfaro Boyd for the quick response of the Panamanian authorities to violations of the rules of entry to closed ports of Ukraine by Panama’s flag vessels in the form of depriving them of the right to navigate under the flag.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further cooperation within the UN, including on full restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
Panama became the second Central American country this year, with which Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry held consultations aimed at expending bilateral cooperation. On June 19th, political consultations with the Guatemalan Foreign Ministry were held.
