On September 29, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis and Special Representative of Ukraine for the Transdniestrian Settlement Process Yurii Klymenko held consultations with the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the TransdniestrianSettlement Process Thomas Mayr-Harting.

Yevhen Perebyinis and Yurii Klymenko underlined ourstate’s commitment to the cause of peaceful settlement of the conflict while ensuring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders. They placed particular emphasis on the negative impact on the negotiation process in the "5+2" format of the ongoing war of russia against Ukraine.

Attention was drawn to the Kremlin’s discrediting of its role as a guarantor of compliance with the reached agreements and as a mediator in the settlement of the conflict due to its brutal aggression against another guarantor and mediator - our state. The Ukrainian side highlighted the need to take into account the Russian destructive factor when developing further approaches to resolving the conflict.

The participants of the consultations noted the primary importance of maintaining stability in the Transndniestrianregion of the Republic of Moldova and preventing it from being drawn into the war against Ukraine.

The parties also reflected on the prospects of consideration of the issue of the negotiation process on the Transdniestrian settlement in the "5+2" format at this year's meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in early December.

For reference: the "5+2" format involves participation in the negotiation process of Moldova and Transdniestria as parties to the conflict; Ukraine, the OSCE, the russian federation - as mediators, and the USA and the EU - as observers.
