On July 17, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine Roelof van Ees. The Deputy Minister congratulated the Ambassador on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine and wished him success in his responsible professional activities.
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed confidence in the further strengthening of the Ukrainian-Dutch partnership and noted the significant contribution of the Netherlands to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, providing humanitarian assistance, and supporting the Ukrainian people in the face of ongoing Russian armed aggression.
Considering that the meeting took place on the 12th anniversary of the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, Deputy Minister expressed his deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of all the victims of this tragedy. He emphasized that justice in the MH17 case is impossible without bringing the perpetrators to justice, because Russia's impunity generates new crimes. Ukraine will continue to work together with international partners to ensure the inevitability of the responsibility of the aggressor state and all persons involved in the crimes committed as a result of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.
Yevhen Perebyinis thanked the Dutch side for its leadership role in establishing the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine, which will operate in The Hague, and also emphasized the importance of the earliest ratification of the Convention on the Establishment of the International Compensation Commission.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda and prospects for further development of Ukrainian-Dutch cooperation. The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the Netherlands for joining the Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition, the first meeting of which was held this week with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
The interlocutors paid special attention to the process of Ukraine's accession to the European Union. In this context, Yevhen Perebyinis stressed the importance of the earliest possible opening of the remaining negotiation clusters and noted the role of the bilateral intergovernmental Lviv Conference, initiated by the Netherlands, in supporting Ukraine's European integration reforms.
