On July 1, 2026 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis met with a delegation of the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC) led by the Chair of the PSC, Lene Mandel Vensild.
Yevhen Perebyinis informed the meeting participants about the current security situation in Ukraine and the key needs of our state in the context of the ongoing Russian armed aggression. Particular attention was paid to the issues of further strengthening defense support for Ukraine, strengthening energy security, increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, as well as ensuring that the aggressor state is held accountable for the crimes committed.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the European Union for its comprehensive support to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, in particular for the assistance provided within the framework of EU instruments and programs in the field of security and defense.
In the context of international efforts aimed at achieving a just and sustainable peace, Yevhen Perebyinis stressed: “The European Union must be a full participant in the future negotiation process to achieve a just and sustainable peace.”
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the further development of cooperation in the field of air defense, unmanned systems, as well as the activities of the European Union Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM).
The EU Member States’ Ambassadors of the Political and Security Committee reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine and assured their readiness to continue to contribute to strengthening its defense capabilities and efforts to counter Russian aggression.
