On 3 September, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held a meeting with Chairman of the EU Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag Dr. Anton Hofreiter (Alliance 90/The Greens parliamentary group).
During the talks, the parties discussed cooperation between Ukraine and Germany on Ukraine's path to European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the consequences of Russia's daily attacks against Ukraine, and the critical needs of the Defenсe Forces of Ukraine.
The Deputy Minister praised Germany's European leadership in terms of assistance provided to Ukraine and briefed on the progress of the peace process, emphasising the need for decisive strengthening of international pressure on Russia to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Yevhen Perebyinis informed the German parliamentarian about the progress in negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU. The parties expressed their mutual intention to facilitate the unblocking of the opening of negotiation clusters as soon as possible.
Anton Hofreiter assured Ukraine of Germany's continued comprehensive and unwavering support.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister presented the German parliamentarian with a state award of Ukraine – the Order of Merit, 3rd class, which Dr. Anton Hofreiter was awarded by Decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and promoting the Ukrainian state in the world.
