21 June 2024 10:52

On June 20, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis took part in the Meeting of the Danube Foreign Ministers during his working visit to Vienna.

The conference was focused on the unanimous position of the delegations in support of Ukraine in the context of Russia's ongoing aggressive war against our country. The participants emphasized that the security of the Danube Region depends on Ukraine and the heroism of the Ukrainian people in opposing the Russian aggressor, and the security of our country is the key to the prosperity of the Danube Region and the European Union as a whole.

Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized that the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) is an important tool for consolidating the unity of European states in the face of cynical Russian aggression against Ukraine. He commended the participation of all EUSDR members in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland and supporting a Joint Communique.

The Deputy Minister also underscored that the EU Strategy for the Danube Region is significant in the context of the region's economic development, especially in providing diversification and security of trade corridors. He pointed out that the Danube corridor has become an efficient route for exporting agricultural products from Ukraine and ensuring global food security. In this context, Yevhen Perebyinis highlighted the importance of developing river navigation and port infrastructure on the Danube and called on partners to develop joint projects with the Ukrainian regions, which will be consistent with the 12 priority areas of the Strategy.

As a result of the conference, the participants adopted a joint Declaration in which they condemned Russia's unprovoked aggressive war against Ukraine, which also had a negative impact on the entire Danube Region.
