Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis met with the Chairman of the German-Ukrainian Interparliamentary Relations Group of the German Bundestag Robin Wagener.
Yevhen Perebyinis thanked Germany for its consistent support and highlighted the importance of Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz's visit to Kyiv on October 4. He also noted that the aid package of over EUR 1.3 billion announced during the visit, intended to support the energy sector and the joint production of interceptor drones, is a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's define capabilities and to preparations for the winter period.
The Deputy Minister briefed his interlocutor on the security situation in Ukraine. In particular, he noted that, as winter approaches, Russian terror is becoming an even more serious challenge due to deliberate terrorist attacks on bridges in Kyiv and on civilian infrastructure. Therefore, timely support from partners will be decisive for protecting people and ensuring Ukraine's resilience.
The sides focused on the new areas of the Ukrainian-German cooperation in defence technologies, countering high-speed air threats, particularly jet-powered UAVs, and strengthening the protection of critical infrastructure. In this context, the Deputy Minister noted that Ukraine's experience in countering Russian aggression is of great importance for the security of all of Europe now, given the growing hybrid threats.
Yevhen Perebyinis highly appreciated the active inter-parliamentary engagement and Robin Wagener's role in strengthening support for Ukraine in the German Bundestag. The sides discussed further deepening of the bilateral dialogue, support for Ukraine's European integration, and coordination of efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace. The interlocutors agreed that only strong and coordinated sanctions pressure will compel Russia's leadership to genuine negotiations on ending its war against Ukraine.
For his part, Robin Wagener reaffirmed his consistent support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in their struggle against bloody Russian aggression and stressed his readiness to continue doing everything possible to provide Ukraine with the necessary assistance.
