On 24 February 2021, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevheniy Yenin met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine Fan Xianrong.
The parties discussed further intensification of strategic partnership between Ukraine and China, deepening of political dialogue, in particular holding the next round of political consultations between the two Foreign Ministries, as well as developing of inter-parliamentary and interregional cooperation.
The prospects for increasing bilateral trade have also been discussed. During the meeting, both sides were also focusing on the issues of confronting COVID-19 and vaccination.

For the second year in a row, in 2020 China became the biggest trade partner of Ukraine. Trade turnover between Ukraine and China in 2020 amounted to $15.4 billion (+25%). The exports of goods from Ukraine to China amounted to $7.1 billion (+98%), while imports of Chinese goods to Ukraine amounted to $8.3 billion.
