On 16 December 2020, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevheniy Yenin received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Ukraine H.E. Mr. Nguyen Hong Thach.
The Deputy Minister greeted Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine and stressed upon the readiness of our state to develop mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries
Yevheniy Yenin also reaffirmed Ukraine’s interest to develop cooperation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations. They paid a special attention to the development of political dialogue and boosting trade. While on the latter subject, Yevheniy Yenin and Nguyen Hong Thach highlighted the importance of the 15th Joint Ukrainian-Vietnamese Іntergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
The parties also declared an intention to hold a number of bilateral events in 2021, including political consultations at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers.
For reference: from January to September 2020, the volume of bilateral turnover amounted to 465 million dollars. USA: exports - 147.3 million, imports - 317.7 million. The main export commodity items of Ukraine: grain crops - 42.1%; ore, slag and ash - 25.6%. The main commodity items of Ukraine's imports: electric machines - 51.6%; footwear - 10.7%.
