The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemns the launch of a ballistic missile by the DPRK on January 14, 2024. Pyongyang's provocative and irresponsible actions violate international law and provoke in the escalation of tensions in the region.

Ukraine once again emphasizes the importance of strict adherence to the resolutions of the UN Security Council regarding the North Korean missile and nuclear programs, and also calls on the world community to strengthen sanctions pressure on the DPRK as well as those countries that resort to circumventing the imposed bans and restrictions.

Current threats to international peace and security, stemming from the intimidation of certain countries to use nuclear weapons, are a violation of international legal norms.

The world community must take decisive and proactive actions to prevent a nuclear attack by anyone anywhere, which would lead to catastrophic consequences on a global scale.
