On April 1, 2011 the political consultations between Mr. Yevhen Mykytenko, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, and Mr. D.Tsogtbaatar, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Mongolia took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
During the meeting the parties discussed the preparations for the state visit to Ukraine of H.E.Mr. T.Elbegdorzh, the President of Mongolia, preliminarily scheduled for summer 2011, as well as for celebration in 2012 of the 20th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations establishment.
In the context of resuming the activities of the Ukrainian-Mongolian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation and holding in May 2011 in Ulaanbaatar its regular meeting, the main directions of mutually beneficial cooperation were considered in the key fields of industry, agriculture, energy sector, transport, infrastructural construction, particularly on the basis of production synergy.
Special attention was paid to the issues of interaction within the framework of international organizations and the Community of Democracies, over which Mongolia will undertake biennial chairmanship in summer of the year 2011.
The Deputy Ministers also exchanged views on the prospects of settlement of the situation in the regions of North Africa and Middle East.
As the outcome of the meeting it was agreed to establish the mechanism of regular political consultations at the level of deputy ministers and the directors of profile departments of Ukrainian and Mongolian foreign ministries.
