Mr. Kozhara informed MEPs about the progress made by Ukraine in implementing the systemic reforms in preparation for signing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius.
Foreign Minister noted that since the 16th EU-Ukraine Summit Ukrainian authorities have taken concrete steps in reforming the judiciary system, electoral legislation as well as the implementation of other reforms under EU-Ukraine Association Agenda. The Minister also touched upon the measures aimed at reforming the public financial management system and the business climate improvement.
Special attention at the meeting was also paid to the visa liberalization issue.
Members of the European Parliament, in turn, assured of their support of European integration aspirations of Ukraine and the willingness to sign the EU- Ukraine Association Agreement in Vilnius. However, it was stressed that the final decision would be made based upon the estimation of Ukraine’s significant progress in the implementation of the Foreign Affairs Council Conclusions on December 10, 2012 and the agreements of 16th EU-Ukraine Summit in February.
