The main issue of the session was the activation of the dialogue with the the Middle East and the North Africa countries, analysis of the political process in the region, assessment of their development as well as impact on the national interests of our state, broadening the bilateral economic connections and strengthening their effectiveness.

The separate attention was paid to the protection of the Ukrainian citizens’ interests, who permanently live or temporary work in these states, particularly in the context of the considerable worsening the security situation in a number of countries of the region.

On the invitation of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan Nasser Judeh delivered a speech at the regional session. Nasser Judeh described the democratization process in the Middle East as well as the main political, social and economic transformations in the Arab world. In the speech of Nasser Judeh the special attention was paid to the Arab-Israeli peace process, Jordanian experience in establishing cooperation with the countries of the region after the Arab spring events.

Nasser Judeh also shared his vision and evaluation of the possible scenarios of the development in the Middle East, stressing the necessity of the coordinating work in order to take joint efforts to minimize the negative consequences of the unstable situation in this region.
