On 11 June Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Olefirov chaired the Delegation of Ukraine at the EU-Ukraine Political Directors Meeting held in Brussels. The EU was represented by Helga Schmid, Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service.
A.Olefirov informed the EU partners of the latest internal developments in Ukraine with the focus at the activities on fulfilling the criteria for the signing of the EU-Ukrainian Association Agreement which were accorded at the 16th Ukraine-EU Summit in February this year.
The parties also discussed EU and Ukraine cooperation in the foreign and security policy sphere, regional issues and interaction between EU and Ukrainian OSCE Chairmanship, including settlement of the protracted conflicts.
The Sides exchanged views on outstanding issues of international security, in particular crisis in Syria, nuclear program of Iran, Middle East Peaceful Process, and situation in Libya. The Ukrainian Side highlighted the issue of the citizens of Ukraine detained in Libya.
