During the official visit to the Slovak Republic Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Leonid Kozhara held talks with Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák.
Both Ministers highlighted an intensive political dialogue at all levels, positive trends in trade and economic ties between Ukraine and Slovakia, discussed the promising areas of enhanced cooperation between the two friendly countries.
They also exchanged views on current international developments, cooperation between the two countries within international organizations. In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine informed about the Ukrainian OSCE Chairmanship activities to implement the priorities of Ukraine in the OSCE.
During the talks, Leonid Kozhara stressed that signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU at the Vilnius summit as well as approaching towards visa-free regime with the EU remains to be key priorities of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister informed his Slovak counterpart on domestic reforms implemented by Ukraine in preparation for the Association Agreement.
As a result of negotiations, the joint statement, which emphasizes the active and comprehensive support of Ukraine's European aspirations by the Slovak Republic, was signed.
