Ukraine pays particular attention to the G7 Summit, which is taking place in Brussels these days.
We welcome the G7 Joint Communiqué in which the leaders of the world community underlined the successful conduct under difficult circumstances of the Presidential elections in Ukraine and congratulated Petro Poroshenko on election as a Head of State.
We hope that the G7’s commitment to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, non-recognition policy of the annexation of Crimea, and the expressed readiness to intensify sanctions against Russia and its leadership, will force the Kremlin to stop the practice of brutal interference into the country’s sovereign affairs and to respect the generally recognized rules of international conduct.
In times of Russia’s unhidden aggression against Ukraine, the G7 members’ support to actions undertaken by our country in protecting its citizens and restoring law and order as well as the call on Russia to meet the commitments it made under the Geneva Joint Statement are of crucial importance.
The G7 Communiqué also welcomes the joint efforts of Ukraine’s authorities and the public to continue the inclusive national dialogue.
The constant support of the international community on the delivery of financial assistance to the implementation of comprehensive reforms in our country is of special importance to Ukraine.
The G7’s position on Ukraine’s energy security and settling the gas disputes with Russia is also of high importance. We are confident that only through the consolidated efforts of the international community we can effectively counter the monopolistic and politically motivated energy price.
We appreciate the support of the world leaders in the Chornobyl-related issues. In this regard, we reiterate the position, that ensuring the nuclear security is one of the priorities of the Government of Ukraine, which was clearly stated at the Hague Nuclear Security Summit in March 2014. The Ukrainian side welcomes the further intensification of the relevant international efforts aimed at converting the Chornobyl site into a stable and environmentally safe place.
