Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Кostyantyn Gryshchenko met with the Foreign Minister of Brazil Antonio Patriota
On January 20th, 2012 during his official visit to Brazil Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko met with Minister of External Relations of Brazil Antonio Patriota.
The meeting was focused on implementation of bilateral agreements reached during the state visit of President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych to Brazil in October 2011 in terms of further enhancement of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Brazil with concrete projects in trade, energy, shipbuilding, chemical and mining industries, etc.
As positive examples of successful partnership between both countries, Ministers mentioned the implementation of the by-national joint space project "Cyclone-4-Alcantara" and the entry into force in 2011 of the intergovernmental agreement on partial waiver of visas, which allows Ukrainian and Brazilian citizens to up to 90 days visa-free trips to respectively Brazil and Ukraine for tourism or business purposes.
Both Ministers attached importance to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio de Janeiro, 2012) and stressed the common wish for the development of democratic principles in the world, providing transparency of public administration and successful implementation of the Open Government Partnership Initiative.
The issues of cooperation in the educational field were also on meeting’s agenda. Minister Gryshchenko called for more Brazilian students to study and research in the Ukrainian Universities, which will be possible particularly in the framework of the Brazilian Government’s program "Science without Borders".
Ukrainian Foreign Minister thanked the Government of Brazil for its close attention to the needs of the Ukrainian Community.
