The event gathered about 200 Turkish Ambassadors and Representatives in international organizations.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister in his welcoming address emphasized on the civilizational role of partnership between Ukraine and Turkey in current global affairs. "The time has come for Ukraine and Turkey to deliver together their historical missions for uniting East and West and formation of modern European history", - said Minister Gryshchenko. He stressed that the geopolitical position of the two countries indicates their fundamental importance for regional security.
In their speeches the Foreign Ministers of both countries noted the significant intensification of Ukrainian-Turkish relations in recent years and great potential for further development of strategic partnership. They also emphasized on atmosphere of trust, constructive and mutual support that has developed between the two countries, and has become a solid foundation for further cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels.
Participation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister in the Conference, which is the main meeting of senior Turkish diplomats, proved the importance of Ukrainian-Turkish relations and had a significant added value for the first high level meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish Strategic Council, held yesterday in Ankara within the framework of the official visit of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
The Turkish Ambassadors Conferences are held annually since 2007.
Starting with its second meeting in January 2010, the current Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Davutoğlu invites foreign ministers and prominent foreign politicians to speak at such Conferences.
In previous years Ambassadors Conferences were attended by Foreign Ministers of Japan, Germany, Brazil, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Greece.
