Both sides noted the historic significance of the signing of the political part of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement same day in Brussels. Mr Lubkivsky stressed that Kyiv will continue its course of European integration with the ultimate goal of EU membership. In his turn, the Slovak Ambassador assured of widest possible support for such efforts of Ukraine. In this regard, Mr Sivacek informed on his country’s readiness to provide expert aid in financial, fiscal, law-enforcement and other areas.
Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude for Slovakia’s traditionally steady support of Ukraine that carried a particular importance during the last months. For his part, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic emphasised that Bratislava did not recognise annexation of the Crimea by Russia and this was a fundamental position of his country.
Possibilities of expanding Ukraine’s cooperation with the Visegrad group, especially given the upcoming Slovak presidency (from July 1), were discussed during the meeting.
The two sides also focused on collaboration in the energy area, the reverse gas flows to Ukraine in particular.
