A major fire that began in the night of 13 April in the commune of Valparaíso (Chile) led to casualties and considerable damage.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Chile, the tragedy affected approximately 12,500 people, 15 of whom died. Fire destroyed 2,900 houses at the area of 1145 hectares.

Acting Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Deshchytsia sent condolences to his Chilean colleague Heraldo Benjamín Muñoz Valenzuela and wished a quick recovery to all those affected by the disaster.
