On May 29, 2014 Acting Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Deshchytsia held talks with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius who is paying a visit to our country.
Heads of foreign ministries discussed topical issues of bilateral agenda, in particular, development of a political dialogue on various levels. L.Linkevičius confirmed the participation of President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė in the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected Head of the Ukrainian state Petro Poroshenko.
Special attention during the meeting was paid to political developments in Ukraine. A.Deshchytsia informed his colleague about the Ukrainian government priority tasks and the ongoing reforms in the context of the European integration course, the measures taken in order to stabilize the situation in the East of our country.
L.Linkevičius expressed full support to the Ukrainian authorities’ efforts aimed at renewal of the stability and the rule of law. The sides have come to a common opinion that external support by the Russian Federation of the pro-Russian radical groupings is the main cause of the ongoing instability in Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
At the talks it was agreed to continue bilaterally the cooperation in the Eurointegration context, specifically in the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and EU, including the establishment of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, as well as liberalization of visa-free regime with the EU for Ukrainian citizens.
