On July 4, 2014 Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with the Chairman of the International Advisory Group (IAP) Sir Nicolas Bratza who is paying his visit to Ukraine within the mandate granted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
The parties discussed the results and prospects of IAP work.
In particular, it was noted that the assistance provided by IAP on the investigation of acts of violence during Euromaidan shall restore the confidence of the citizens of Ukraine to the Ukrainian authorities and judiciary. The IAP’s overseeing the investigation procedure, which is in the focus of attention of the international community, will ensure its full compliance with the requirements of the European Convention on human rights and fundamental freedoms as well as practice of the European Court of Human Rights.
IAP on overseeing the investigation of all acts of violence that took place in Ukraine in the period from 30 November 2013 to late February 2014, was created on the initiative of the Council of Europe Secretary General T.Jagland in February this year.
Besides N.Bratza it is composed of a former judge of the European Court of Human Rights of Ukraine, Doctor of Law V.Butkevych, Ukrainian human rights activist O.Anpilohov and the Council of Europe experts.
