Special attention was paid to the recent developments of the situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine, in the context of the Malaysia Airlines aircraft being shot down by terrorists. Mr. Çavuşoğlu expressed his condolences to the victims and assured of Turkey’s strong support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The sides stressed the importance of the security of rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatars in the temporarily occupied territory of ARC of Ukraine.

During the meeting the further realization of the European integration aspirations of Ukraine and Turkey was also discussed.  The Sides agreed to exchange experience in the negotiation process with the European Union.
