On September 11, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with President of the Republic of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who is on a working visit to Ukraine.
Pavlo Klimkin expressed gratitude to Estonia for its strong support of the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister informed the Estonian side about the latest developments in the Eastern and Southern Ukraine in the context of maintaining agreements stated in the Minsk Protocol. In this context, Ukrainian Side stressed the importance of supporting the current efforts of the Ukrainian government by its partners, taking into account the new EU package of sanctions on Russia.
Special attention was paid to the steps of Ukraine’s government aimed at stabilizing the economic situation and the implementation of reforms.
President T.H.Ilves confirmed solidarity of Estonia with Ukraine and stressed on its readiness to provide further support for reforms in our country and for managing the consequences of terrorist groups in Eastern Ukraine.
The sides also discussed bilateral agenda in the political, trade and economic spheres.
Preparations for the provisional application of the Association Agreement with the EU that has to begin after ratification of this Agreement by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament were also discussed during the meeting.
