On June 29, 2010 the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka M.Rajapaksa is in Ukraine on an official visit for the first time in the history of bilateral relations.
In the course of the visit the Sri Lankian President M.Rajapaksa will have meetings with the President of Ukraine V.Yanukovych, Speaker of the Parliament V.Lytvyn, Prime-Minister M.Azarov, Vice-prime-minister S.Tigipko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine K.Gryshchenko.
The main topics of the bilateral negotiations are the further development of cooperation between Ukraine and Sri Lanka in political, trade, economic, military-technical, educational, cultural and humanitarian fields, as well as strenthening of interaction between the two countries within the framework of the international organizations.
The programme of the visit envisages holding on June 30, Ukrainian-Sri Lankian business-forum aimed at examination of economic and industrial potential of both countries, promoting dynamic development of bilateral contacts at the level of Ukrainian and Sri Lankian business communities.
As a result of bilateral talks a number of Ukranian-Sri Lankian agreements, in particular, on cooperation in tourism sphere are planned to be signed.
