On 24 June, Mr. Volodymyr Khandogiy, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affaires of Ukraine, met with Steven Allen, UNICEF Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States who is visiting Ukraine on 22-24 June.

During the meeting both sides noted with appreciation the cooperation between Ukraine and UNICEF.

Particular attention was given to the elaboration of a new country program for Ukraine for 2012-2016. Both sides have emphasized the need to include into this document Ukraine’s priorities in such areas as education, social integration, health, combating HIV/AIDS as well as mitigating long-standing consequences of the Chornobyl catastrophe. UNICEF project activities in Ukraine have also been discussed.

Both sides have agreed to promote further fruitful cooperation.
