On December 22 and 23, 2010 Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko paid an official visit to the Republic of Cuba.
Within the framework of the visit the Minister held meetings with First Vice President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers José Machado Ventura and President of the National Assembly Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada. The parties expressed their satisfaction with the facilitation of the bilateral political dialogue in 2010. They noted the significant potential of the Ukrainian – Cuban relations, first of all in trade and economic, scientific and educational, cultural and tourist spheres.
The talks with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla dealt with topical issues of cooperation both at the bilateral level and within international organizations. In particular, the two Ministers expressed their satisfaction with the results of the recent 10th session of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian – Cuban Commission on trade and economic, scientific and technical cooperation and with the process of implementation of agreements reached within its framework.
The negotiations resulted in signing the Memorandum on Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Cuba.
Kostyantyn Gryshchenko also toured the recovery resort “Tarara”, where during the past two decades Ukrainian children are being treated within the framework of the Cuban program “Chornobyl Children” and presented them a New Year gift.
