On June 17, 2010 Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Horin received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ukraine Shorsh Khalid Said on the occasion of presenting the copies of his Credentials.

During the meeting the Sides underlined the necessity to coordinate efforts with the aim to expedite the Ukrainian-Iraqi cooperation.

Special attention was paid to the prospects of development and deepening of cooperation in trade and economic fields, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres, which is to be facilitated by the enlargement of bilateral legal basis.

In this context it was agreed to speed up the preparation of a number of bilateral draft agreements, holding the new session of the Ukrainian-Iraqi Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation, activization and diversification of economic cooperation between the business circles of both countries.
