On 29 January, within the framework of his visit to the EU institutions in Brussels, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström.
Discussion was held on the specific steps of the sides aimed at preparing and introducing the free trade regime between Ukraine and the EU from 1 January 2016.
The solidarity of Ukraine and the European Commission’s positions was stressed that any steps towards trade liberalization in the EU – Eurasian Union format are possible only after Moscow implements all the requirements of the international community with regard to ensuring the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Russia respects its commitments taken within the framework of the WTO, and also when other states of the Eurasian Union become the part of multilateral trading system.
