On 29 January, within the framework of his visit to Brussels, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikolaos Kotzias before an extraordinary meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on the situation in Ukraine.
Pavlo Klimkin congratulated the Foreign Minister of Greece on his appointment and expressed hope that the election of a new Greek Government would contribute to the development of fruitful bilateral relations.
The Foreign Minister of Ukraine briefed Nikolaos Kotzias in details on the aggravation of the situation in eastern Ukraine with a special emphasis on a series of attacks against Ukrainian civilians. The Minister made a point of the crime against humanity committed by militants in Mariupol, where, in particular, a large Greek minority lives.
Pavlo Klimkin invited Nikolaos Kotzias to visit Ukraine in the near future.
