Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with the rapporteur for the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Christina Zelenkova.
The sides discussed prospects for a peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine, including full and strict implementation of Minsk agreements by all sides and respect for the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine.
Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that the implementation of the Minsk agreements was only the first step towards the resolution of the situation. He stressed on the need to continue international pressure on the Russian Federation in order to stop its aggression against Ukraine and return Russia back on a track of compliance with international law.
The sides discussed joint steps to release Nadia Savchenko and other hostages unlawfully detained in the Russian Federation.
