Nataliia Galibarenko informed on the current situation in Donbas in connection with the ongoing aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and Russia –backed militants in violation of the Minsk agreements. The activities of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission were discussed. The attention was drawn to the necessity of deployment on the ground of the EU peacekeeping mission in the framework of its Common Security and Defense Policy that would help to stabilize the situation in the East of Ukraine.
The parties exchanged views on the results of the Riga Eastern Partnership Summit on 21-22 May. Nataliia Galibarenko stressed that our top priority issue remains the introduction by the EU of the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens next year after the implementation of the second phase of Visa Liberalization Action Plan.
The Latvian Side confirmed its readiness to provide expert assistance in carrying out internal reforms in Ukraine and in implementing European integration course of our state.
