Pavlo Klimkin took part in the ministerial meeting of the International Organization of La Francophonie dedicated to the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which took place in the framework of the 70-th Session of the UN General Assembly.
The President of the Republic of Senegal Mr. Macky Sall, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Canada, France, Belgium, DRC, Secretary General of La Francophonie, the UNESCO’s Secretary General, representatives of more than 35 states, international organizations, and NGOs participated in the event.
The parties emphasized the necessity of active youth involvement to the implementation of sustainable development goals, adoption of “Eco-economy”, measures to combat the negative consequences of climate change. They also gave special importance to the issue of the role of education and culture in the francophone countries as a tool for the achievement of the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development up to the year 2030.
Recommendations of the Francophone Youth organizations were introduced during the meeting as the summary of «J’ai au cœur ma planète» campaign with regards to the Climate Change Conference to be held in Paris in December 2015.
In the framework of the event Foreign Minister held a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from African region concerning the support of Ukraine’s candidature for the non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for the period of 2016-2017.
