UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has appointed German diplomat Martin Kobler, as a new Special Representative and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya. Mr. Kobler will soon take over the post from Mr. Bernardino León.
Ukraine continues supporting efforts of the international community under United Nations auspices directed to find peaceful ways to settle the conflict in Libya. We hope for successful implementation of the initiatives launched by Bernardino Leon aimed at facilitating the peaceful settlement in Libya, as well as the quick formation of a coalition Government of National Accord.
Our country stands for exclusively peaceful ways of conflict settlement by means of comprehensive peaceful dialogue and supports the UN peacekeeping efforts.
As a new non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Ukraine will pay special attention to this issue and is willing to make a significant contribution to the United Nations-led initiatives aimed at resolving Libyan crisis.
Ukraine supports territorial integrity of Libya and calls for a quick and balanced decisions, which could bring an end to the armed conflict in Libya, stop dissemination of international terrorist groups activities and prevent further aggravation of the humanitarian crisis.
