On December 17, 2024 as part of a working visit to the State of Libya, the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held a meeting and political consultations with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the State of Libya Eltaher Elbaour.
Maksym Subkh appreciated the Libya's support of pro-Ukrainian initiatives within the framework of the UN aimed at protecting territorial integrity of Ukraine and expressed hope for the revitalization of the role of official Tripoli in international efforts to achieve a comprehensive, fair and sustainable peace in our country based on the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Libyan side for the participation of the Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya Mohamed Al-Menfi in the First Global Peace Summit in Switzerland in June this year. The Special Representative of Ukraine invited the Libyan side to participate in the next Global Peace Summit.
During the consultations, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in political, trade-economic, educational, security and other spheres. The interlocutors noted the importance of strengthening ties between the Ukrainian and Libyan business communities. Particular attention was paid to the issue of resuming the activities of the Ukrainian-Libyan Commission on the bilateral cooperation.
Maksym Subkh called on the Libyan side to join projects for the recovery of Ukraine by strengthening bilateral economic and scientific cooperation.
The Special Representative of Ukraine wished the Libyan people the achievement of national harmony, the establishment of comprehensive peace and stability, as well as the speedy recovery of Libya, emphasizing the unchanging traditions of friendship and partnership between the Ukrainian and Libyan peoples.
A written message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha was handed over to the head of the Libyan Foreign Ministry, which, in particular, contained an invitation to pay an official visit to Ukraine at a time convenient for the Libyan side.
