Consultations between Ukraine and Japan on cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Security Council took place in Kyiv on 22 December 2016. Mr. Oleh Herasymenko, Ambassador at Large, Head of the UN Security Council Membership Task Force, Directorate General for International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, headed the Ukrainian delegation. Mr. Koichi Mizushima, Ambassador in charge of cyber policy and UN affairs, Deputy Director General, Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, headed the Japanese delegation.

2. Both sides discussed the priorities of Ukraine and Japan at the United Nations Security Council, regional issues as well as the reform of the Security Council. The parties agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation within the framework of the UN Security Council and continue consultations on related issues.
