During the official visit to Paraguay Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Gryshchenko had a meeting with Vice President of Paraguay Federico Franco. 

Mr. Franco underscored an important historic meaning of the first official visit of the Foreign Minister of Ukraine to Paraguay, as well as signing of the basic Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between both states.

On both sides there were positive assessments of the first session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which took place the day before the visit of the Foreign Minister of Ukraine. 

Ukrainian Foreign Minister and Paraguayan Vice President discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation in mining industry, energy and high-tech fields as well as railway and river transport infrastructure development.

Cooperation in the framework of the United Nations and regional integration processes in South America were also on the agenda of the meeting.
